Biochar in potato and sweet corn production

  • Biochar is an amendment produced by a process called pyrolysis, which is the burning of biomass in a limited oxygen environment. This study investigated the effect of biochar in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) production.
The study focuses on the effects of biochar on soil that is prone to nitrogen leakage in plots of sweet corn and potatoes. For more information on sustainable vegetable production visit www.extension.iastate.edu/vegetablelab
